Are You Focused On Success?

Being focused is the ability to execute a task or goal that has been assigned to your attention. This means blocking out any distractions that will interfere with your ability to stay focused and complete your duties. Unfortunately for many the ability to stay focused is non-existent. We now live in a world were what is “instant” and “new” dominates people’s focus of attention. People have seemed to have lost the ability to focus on long-term initiatives and instead concentrate more thought into short-term initiatives and even do that with a real lack of effort. It is as if we are living in a world full of wandering people who are following the latest, widespread trends rather than trying to combat the many issues we have at hand as a whole that hinders our ability to grow and prosper. That last sentence was a bit of a rant but points to the larger overall effect the loss of focus creates for our society as a whole.

Looking at our society today, we are surrounded by distractions which negatively affect our ability to efficiently complete what is before us. Even while I am writing this post I am browsing the internet looking at things unrelated to this subject. We have so many things vying for our attention that we find it hard to concentrate on what is important and instead look to stimulate our need to be entertained. This is clearly why only a few reside at the top and a huge percentage reside at the bottom. Those who sit upon the top did so by being focused on being successful not by being sidetracked by things unimportant to their wanted destination. The saying, “It is lonely at the top”, resonates as true because in order to make it to that position you have to separate yourself from people and things that hinder your progression. Doing so takes a precision type of focus that has only one thing in sight and dismisses anything unrelated to the intended mission.

On the other though you will find many people proclaiming they want success and are focused on finding its presence but their actions prove otherwise. For the most part people like to make it seem like they are working hard and are focused on important matters but in reality they are Facebooking, Instagraming and watching the latest dramatized reality show. People’s lives have become fixated on living in the moment and following the latest happenings and in return complaining about the outcome of doing so. People want the rewards of success without putting in the hard work and effort to receive such benefits. Yes, I know you only get one life to live but what will you have to show for it if you are more focused on what is happening on social media rather than influencing what is happening on social media . Focus your time on being an innovator, a mover and shaker, a leader and not someone who just follows the crowd.

I believe many people are in a bad place now because they do not possess the ability to focus. Their train of thought is to merely go along with the system in place and hope for some sort of miracle results by doing so. Being a sheep in the herd will only lead you to be slaughtered, instead focus on being the herder that leads the flock. From this moment forward start to focus on changing your life for the better. Live your life to the fullest. Do not merely exist as an extension of the norm, set yourself apart from the crowd.
