How to Accomplish Your 2018 Business Goals

2018 is less than 3 weeks away, which means you should already have a plan of action that’s currently being put into motion to accomplish your goals for the new year.

But most people like to plan for the new year a few days before it arrives or on the day of January 1st.

This is the wrong approach to take because you’re already behind on accomplishing your goals when you do this.

There’s pretty much a 99% chance your goals won’t be accomplished because you didn’t prepare yourself mentally for the challenge of improving.

You can’t just wake up one day and be a new, improved version of yourself without gradually progressing towards that change.

So you can’t expect to improve your business in 2018 if you didn’t implement the new system of actions that are supposed to replace your old ones.

This should have been done by the beginning of the 3rd quarter of 2017.

You’re probably reading this right now and feel slightly panicked because it’s the middle of December and you just started to think about your goals for 2018.

This does put you in a bit of a predicament, especially since we’re in the midst of the holiday season.

This is the time of year when you become distracted by family, friends, and the festivities celebrating the holidays that last for nearly a month — Thanksgiving through New Year’s Day.

Therefore, your attention is focused on entertainment and relaxing.

You’re not concerned with pushing yourself to improve heading into the new year.

Then when January 1, 2018 arrives, you quickly try to put some goals together that aren’t even supported by a strong strategy focused on execution.

This causes you to have issues making any progress because you’re rushed to produce results instead of gradually letting the tactics within your strategy have an impact.

This leads to you dealing with a lot of frustration.

Once you get frustrated, you start to believe that you cannot accomplish your goals, causing you to give up on them and operate with the same behavior you’re use to.

It’s back to business as usual and another year where your business experiences mediocre results.

What I want to help you do is eliminate mediocrity from your behavior so that you can position your business to experience massive results in 2018.

Even if you haven’t already put your plan into motion to accomplish your 2018 goals, I will teach you how you can begin the process.

Fair Warning: You will work harder than you ever have before to produce massive results but the spoils of your hard work will be worth the effort.

So let’s stop talking and begin the implementation process.

Review Your Current Process

Even though you’re not supposed to live in the past, you must learn from it to improve your performance in the future.

Too many entrepreneurs never take the time to analyze their past actions to learn how they can correct the issues that keep them from becoming great.

This leads to mediocrity becoming a welcome presence within your business because you never make it uncomfortable for it to exist among your operations.

Even if you did luck up on some success before, it most likely didn’t last long because you didn’t prepare your business for its existence to remain long-term.

This happens because you don’t make successful behavior a habit so you have no way to continuously elevate your performance to keep attracting success to your business.

You reverse this trend by identifying what mistakes you’re currently making and eliminating them from your daily habits so your business operations can improve.

Your process then becomes focused on producing massive results by being efficient and effective with your actions, instead of just doing whatever sporadic thought comes to your mind.

But before this happens, though you need to recognize your weaknesses and work to diminish the impact they have on your business’s ability to be successful.

Improving Your Weaknesses

A lot of entrepreneurs don’t like to acknowledge their weaknesses because they believe doing so makes them appear weak.

Doing this actually makes you appear strong because you’re improving yourself to improve your business results.

If you didn’t accomplish your financial target in 2017, then you need to find out why it¬† didn’t occurr and eliminate the issue.

Maybe you didn’t meet your sales goals or your expenses may have exceeded your projected budget.

Whatever the cause of the issue, it’s a weakness that has to be corrected if your goal is to have a successful business in 2018.

At the end of the day, any problems that occur within your business can be traced back to internal issues that you have allowed to get out of control.

If you continue to ignore bad behavior then you’re only digging your business deeper into a hole that becomes extremely hard to get out off.

That’s why I mentioned you want to begin the process of accomplishing your goals in the 3rd quarter of the current year so that you can eliminate your weaknesses quickly, instead of wasting time the first quarter of the new year trying to do this.

Since you may be 6 months behind, due to you just setting your goals, you have a lot of work to do.

So realistically you have a month to fine-tune your process so that your current weaknesses don’t persist into the new year.

So before you can move forward with accomplishing your goals for 2018, you need to learn why your past goals were never achieved.

You need to get out of the habit of continually carrying your bad behavior and only invest in purpose based actions that have a positive impact on your goals.

Doing this helps you accomplish your goals quickly instead of dragging them out beyond their original date of completion.

You want to achieve your goals quickly so that you can set new ones to be accomplished.

But you must have an effective plan in place that allows you to implement actions focused on the execution process.

Create a Strategy Plan

How will you ensure that 2018 is a successful year?

You can’t just think it and your desires magically become a reality.

You need to create a plan of actions that will work to bring your goals into fruition.

This goes beyond just merely writing your goals down on a piece of paper that you never look at again until 6 months later when you realize your business hasn’t accomplished anything significant.

As soon as your goals are written down, actions need to be applied to them so that you can begin to actively work towards accomplishing your goals.

If you put this off until the next day, you won’t do it because something will always come up that distracts you from getting it done.

You need to start acting immediately towards your goals so that you can get in the habit of making continual progression.

This helps to keep you focused on accomplishing your goals to the point that they become an obsession.

And the only way to feed your obsession is by continually achieving the goals you have established for your business.

What Tactics will You Use?

A strategy is obsolete if it doesn’t accomplish your end-goal.

This is why you need to move forward with effective actions that are backed by purpose so that they have deep impact.

You create these types of actions by only focusing on the goal at hand.

If the task you’re doing doesn’t pertain to your goal then it’s a waste of time.

Let’s say that your goal is to get 20 new consulting clients by the end of the year.

How will this be accomplished if you only had 5 consulting clients in 2017?

You’ll have to indirectly push people to your consulting services by giving them an incentive to engage with you on that level.

This means blogging, giving away free e-books, writing a book, and speaking at events and conferences.

You want to showcase your knowledge to your target audience so that they become your customers.

Tactics are the reinforcing actions that support your overall strategy.

Many people ignore the importance of defining their tactics, which is why their strategy never works to accomplish their goals.

Tactics help you chip away at your goals day-by-day.

Watch how employing your tactics for 3-4 months leads to big results for your business.

This is due to being consistent — a trait that most people don’t have.

With consistency, you could possibly exceed your goals by the end of the year!

Put Actions Over Planning

This doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t make plans.

Plans are needed to guide the course of actions you take to accomplish your goals.

But you can’t spend all your time planning because you need to be getting shit done.

Those who take action will always accomplish more than those who constantly try to put together the perfect plan.

There is no such thing as perfect.

You have to put your strategy to use and see what works and what doesn’t.

This helps you improve your tactics so that you’re producing solid results rather than experiencing little to no results.

It takes massive action to product massive results so you need to constantly apply pressure on your goals to accomplish them.

It’s all about planting the seeds that have to eventually grow.

The actions you take now are seeds being cultivated for the harvest you’ll experience in a couple of months.

But the key to all this is being patient and consistent.

You won’t experience instant results — overnight success is a myth.

The people who just “appear overnight” have been spending months or years toiling away at their goals until they finally started to see some rewards for their continued efforts.

This is why you need to get to work immediately so that you can start moving closer to accomplishing your goals.

Faith without works is dead.


2018 is pretty much here.

Success won’t just be handed to you.

You need to chase after it every day until you finally catch hold of it.
