How To Come Up With Your Next Big Idea

Businesses are founded by people who have taken an idea and ran with it. They are upheld by people who have confidence in what they’re doing, and believe in their products or services. But when your ideas run out, it can be hard to persevere and continue to do just as well as you’re doing now, if not a little better. It’s said that our best inventions and ideas come to us while we’re least expecting it – so is the case just to sit back and wait for a miracle to happen? Well, not entirely…

Don’t Think Outside The Box

You don’t have to over complicate things. Sometimes, the most simple creations are the ones that appeal and are able to generate the most return on your investment. These are things that people want and need in their lives, but don’t realize until it’s offered to them; ideas like anti-fatigue mats, cable separators and hair grips. Once your consumer has them within their grasp, they become things that they never knew that they could live without. Think of the things that you would like to see around your own home or workplace – things which could help make your life a whole lot easier – and do some research into whether they’ve actually been manufactured or not. If the answer is no, you could be on to a quick buck.

Magpie Your Ideas

It’s not a new thing to take inspiration from somebody else’s ideas. There’s no need to reinvent the wheel, and if there’s a product that is out on the market and working and you are coming up with similar ideas, it’s alright to compare and contrast in order to get it to where you need to be. It’s not okay to completely rip off an idea and try and sell it as your own, however. You will need to look for patents and copyright that are attached to certain products, and be sure not to cross them. If you are unsure of how to access these, you may need to hire the services of a legal representative to make sure that you’re completely covered. The last thing that you want is to get into trouble.

Discuss, Discuss, Discuss

Ideas are meant to be shared. Getting together with others from your business, or even close friends and family, to ping across thoughts that you are having and to get feedback on them is something that should be done often. The more that you discuss where you want to get to and what you want to achieve, the more input that others can give you on how to get there. It’s not being a weak business leader – in fact, far from it. Giving respect and responsibility to those that are wanting of it and being able to listen to ideas that could potentially help you to mind map your own is the sign of a great boss. Chatting and working through thoughts and feelings towards an initial idea will definitely be able to help you.
