An Examination of 2012
The year of 2012 seemed to be a year that had a lot of great promise but sharply fell flat in delivering any generous returns on such promises. Our so-called leaders have increased their bickering and unwillingness to compromise, it seems the citizens of this country have gone mad and our push towards stability and progressive growth has stalled. Going into 2013 looks like the bad we were in is only going to get worst. That in itself is a very scary thought to ponder. Read the rest of this entry
Creating Value For Your Consumers
The marketplace in which many businesses operate within has become fiercely competitive due to the decreased consumption patterns of consumers. As consumers become more hesitant about how their money is spent businesses likewise mimic the same behavioral patterns. The problem with this though is that businesses cannot operate in this manner because it does not resonate well with consumers. As a business you operate in order to make a profit; consumers consume in order to satisfy specific needs and wants. If consumers feel that they are being given low quality products and services they transition their consuming patterns elsewhere. Businesses on the other hand cannot just reposition their consumer base instantly without suffering numerous setbacks which can be very costly. This means that businesses must truly create value for their consumers especially during these challenging times in order to remain competitive amongst the varying options competitors present to consumers. The Business Process
Business is a process that involves many different variables that all combine to formulate into an operating organization. Variables are the components which help to add substance to the overall picture by connecting the many dots that are necessary for efficient processing. Many people make the mistake of thinking business is a straight-forward act that moves from idea to acceptation without having any important in-between destinations. Not recognizing the importance of strategic planning and the execution of correlating initiatives that create the opportunity for success severely limits the chances of seeing progressive development. You see the idea is just the beginning stage and not necessarily the most important element within the process. The initiatives that lead to the execution of the proposed idea is what truly matters and is what sets successful businesses apart from dreamers and wishers. Read the rest of this entry
Why a Strategy is Important
Have you noticed that when you try to do something all at once you usually fail? You are so determined to do everything at the same time causing yourself to waste more time rather than being productive with your time. You are operating in a blur rather than streamlining your actions in an efficient manner which allows you to actually perform well. Maybe it is due to the instant society we live within that makes us believe everything has to come about in an instant manner. The results of having such a mindset though has revealed that instant satisfaction almost certainly brings with it instant failure. Read the rest of this entry
Why Knowledge is More Beneficial Than Education
Knowledge and education; are they not one in the same? Many will say yes; I on the other hand say no. Lets reference to dictionary.com in order to establish the definition of the two words. Education is defined as: the act or process of imparting or acquiring general knowledge, developing the powers of reasoning and judgement, and generally of preparing oneself or others intellectually for mature life. Knowledge is defined as: acquaintance with facts, truths, or principles, as from study or investigation; general erudition: knowledge of many things. Just by reading over the two definitions it is clear that knowledge goes beyond education. This would then explain as to why so many educated people seem so unknowledgeable about the “real” world. Competition is Fierce
Lately I have been noticing that some opposing players within what I call the thought leaders of the entrepreneurial community have been stifling others that they view as competitors. I say this because it seems like they do not like others sharing their own knowledge and information to what they view as “their audience”. Instead of letting the audience hear ideas and produce conversation from varying perspectives, they block out anyone promoting theories opposing their own. Maybe they fear those they view as considerable competition, maybe they want the audience to focus only on what they have to offer; whatever the reason it pushes me to want to strategically outwit them at their game of checkers by playing a masterful game of chess. Lessons Learned from Game of Thrones.
If you are one of those people interested in the politics of society, the complexity of human interaction and the curious nature of cut throat/ back stabbing business deals; then Game of Thrones is the right kind of show for you. I first thought Game of Thrones was just about medieval times such as knights and dragons but in actuality it is much more than those concepts. Game of Thrones illustrates the different factions of society and how each faction interacts in contrast from one another in order to survive. The show demonstrates how individual’s idealistic differences can either keep them alive and thriving amongst the chaos and turmoil or help to descend their eventual downfall towards destruction. In the world within Game of Thrones it is wise to know your status and abide by its limitations or disrupt the perceived status quo in order to climb the ladder of society on your own terms. Putting the Pieces Together Part II
In part 1 of Putting the Pieces Together, we spoke about people and resources. Lets briefly review those two components before we move forward in order to remember their importance. People are important in order to give support and a helping hand when in need. Resources are important because they help you connect the dots when you are unable to do so within your own individual efforts. These two components clearly point out the fact that you cannot do it all on your own if you want to succeed. Remember this is a puzzle you must assemble; pieces(the right ones) are needed for the construction of the continued work in progress.
With people and resources already covered, we will move along to network and skills and see how they fit into the equation. Read the rest of this entry
