Why You Fail to Succeed

lazy
Have you been trying so hard to accomplish something but it seems like nothing that you do works? Stop and think about it for a minute, have you really done everything in your own power to become successful? Most likely you attribute procrastination and the fiddling of your thumbs to hard work. You talk to a few people and put together a few documents thinking you are putting in a substantial effort of work. If you think I am speaking too harsh, do not be so sensitive. I had to have the same real conversation with myself. Read the rest of this entry

Are You Living Up to Your Potential?

potential
Nearly all of us say that we want to be the best that we can be and achieve great things. In reality though, the majority of us rarely do so. It is said that you can do whatever you want to do as long as you put your mind to it; the problem is that such a statement seems like wishful thinking when most try to apply the notion. Just as it is said we all have the potential to be great but can that opinion be truthful for all of us? Read the rest of this entry

Why You Do Not Want a NFL Ref Lockout Situation

To put it plain and simple the replacement refs covering the NFL games are pretty much horrific, a complete embarrassment to the organization. Currently the NFL is in a lockout situation with the veteran refs who have years of experience covering NFL games and also have years of knowledge when it comes to rules and game play. The refs in place have no such experience or knowledge and it really shows when you are forced to watch these horribly called games. It is as if every week it gets worse and worse, leaving you puzzled in amazement as to how this debacle can continue to go on. Blatant calls that any fan can make seem to be blind to these replacements and this is even with them having the luxury of replay review. It seems like the refs want to outdo themselves on how much more inefficient and dumbfounded they can become. The whole occurring fiasco is a major distraction for the NFL and just continuous to further piss off fans, players and coaches. Read the rest of this entry

Scared to Fail, Unwilling to Succeed

Who actually pursues an opportunity knowing they might fail? Hardly anyone but the risk of failure is always a possibility when dealing with entrepreneurship. That is what many individuals fear most when contemplating about pursuing the entrepreneurial journey. If you fail you seem like a complete failure that does not know what they are doing and this produces the fear of what you feel others will negatively think about your risky choices. You could have chosen the safe route like everyone else and became an employee but no you had to be different is what you are thinking. If you fail you will lose all faith in yourself and rationalize that you do not have what it takes to be called an entrepreneur. Once that feeling eats away at you sometimes you can never move forward and face the risk of uncertainty. So now you are deathly scared to take a plunge that could possibly swallow your hopes and ambitions along with your pride. Read the rest of this entry

Are You Experiencing the Entrepreneur Fad?

Being an entrepreneur is the latest hot trend amongst people entering or currently in the stagnate job market. Entrepreneurship is seen as the gateway to freedom, better finances and an overall more rewarding form of work. People associate entrepreneurship with flexibility and the ability to produce exponential riches, which fuels the elevated interest in pursuing its path. Unfortunately though, the reality of such successes are small compared to the relative average existence that a majority of entrepreneurs experience. This fad though is being fed off the perception that following in the path of entrepreneurship will make you instantly rich and enable you to live the lifestyle of Richard Branson or P. Diddy. That is why when things get tougher than expected and the lifestyle becomes more consuming than expected; people bail out with the quickness. Read the rest of this entry

Competition is Fierce

Lately I have been noticing that some opposing players within what I call the thought leaders of the entrepreneurial community have been stifling others that they view as competitors. I say this because it seems like they do not like others sharing their own knowledge and information to what they view as “their audience”. Instead of letting the audience hear ideas and produce conversation from varying perspectives, they block out anyone promoting theories opposing their own. Maybe they fear those they view as considerable competition, maybe they want the audience to focus only on what they have to offer; whatever the reason it pushes me to want to strategically outwit them at their game of checkers by playing a masterful game of chess. Ambitions of the Entrepreneur

When you think about entrepreneurs and entrepreneurship what do you envision? In all likelihood you picture an individual doing what they love to do and living the life they want to live. It is the common image of entrepreneurship that has been put into our heads that makes us believe being an entrepreneur is all peaches and cream. The reality of the fact though is that entrepreneurship involves more than a good idea about how to enhance or change an existing situation. Entrepreneurship is about having an idea, formalizing that idea and having that idea be accepted by your target market. Read the rest of this entry

You Call That Customer Service? Really???

This week I had the displeasure of witnessing a business owner have a full-blown argument with a client. The client was upset because the business did not follow procedure from previous years and voiced their opinion about the following occurrence. The client also mentioned their personal situation and how the business did not correctly satisfy their issue brought in to be solved. The business owner in turn became frustrated when the client would not accept their reply and injected strongly with their own personal situation and basically dismissed the client’s feelings. The client reacted angrily and could not believe after years of being a loyal customer they were being treated so coldly and as if their situation meant nothing to the business owner. Even as the employees of the business tried to apologize for the owner’s actions it was clear that the damage was already seriously done. Read the rest of this entry

Come Correct or Don’t Come At All

As we all get underway in this new year and prepare for the long days ahead, I think it is important we recognize what it means to show up and show out. Many people are in the process of planning a big year and proclaiming to blow away the odds against them by succeeding at what they proclaim to transpire this year. The reality of the matter is that a huge percentage of people will succumb to the challenges that come with the territory of gaining success. Also a great deal of people will, excuse my language, bring a half ass performance and act clueless as to why they did not accomplish any significant milestones. Mind boggling, I know. If you are not willing to put in the necessary effort to succeed then why even waste time at all bringing forth mediocrity. Read the rest of this entry

Your Biggest Competition: Yourself

Lately I have been talking a lot about competition and surviving in a competitive environment. This is because competition and the need to be better off cannot be easily escaped especially during our current economic times. The thing about competition though, is that it is not reluctant with who can be involved in its process. Also competition comes in various forms that can be unknown to the person who does not recognize its presence. For instance, while you are looking all around to scope out your competition, are you looking at the face in the mirror? Yes, you can sometimes be your biggest competition and detour your own path towards success. Read the rest of this entry
